'Raja Kita' Exhibition At Istana Lama Seri Menanti

KUALA PILAH, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan people can get a close look at the state's royal institution and royal family by visiting the "Raja Kita" (Our Ruler) exhibition at Istana Lama Seri Menanti here.

The exhibition was held in conjunction with the installation of Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir as the 11th Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan on Monday.

State Tourism, Unity, Culture, Arts, Heritage and Malay Customs Committee Chairman Datuk Mohammad Razi Kail said it was aimed at informing the public on the role and contribution of Tuanku Muhriz as a ruler.

He said the exhibition also showed the history of Negeri Sembilan royalty since the rule of Raja Melewar who originated from Pagar Ruyung, Sumatera.

Exhibits on display include portraits of the royal family, royal attire, family tree and replica of royal regalia like yellow umbrellas, spears, long keris and swords.

"The exhibition is a medium which not only expose but also close the gap between the royal institution and the people," he told Bernama here on Saturday.

Mohammad Razi said other than to protect and respect the historical heritage, it would also attract more tourists to Negeri Sembilan.

Tuanku Muhriz opened the free exhibition on Saturday.
