18 Illegal Immigrants Detained In Waters Off Sandakan
SANDAKAN, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Marine Operations Force detained 18 Filipino immigrants who attempted to sneak into the country in two operations in waters off Sandakan here on Friday.
Its Sandakan commanding officer, ASP Muhammad Sallam Spawi, said the illegal immigrants, aged between 14 and 30, comprised 12 men and six women.
The 12 men, who were in two boats, were detained in waters off Pulau Nunuyan at 12.20am while the women were arrested in an operation at Sungai Batu 3 at 6.15am, he said in a statement here on Saturday.
He said the operation was conducted under Op Octopus.
