NUTP Lauds Allocation For Education In Sabah, Sarawak
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) has welcomed the RM1.1 billion allocation to upgrade education facilities in Sabah and Sarawak, saying there was a genuine need to do so.
Its president Hashim Adnan said the allocation would ensure students in both states, especially in the rural areas, would be able to enjoy similar facilities like those enjoyed by their counterparts in towns and cities.
He also likened the allocation as a long-term investment to create quality human capital.
"The government does not lose anything if it invests a huge amount of money in education," he told Bernama.
On the increase of 80 schools with RM1.6 billion allocation, he said, it was a positive move.
"We have been hoping for the construction of more new schools as this will also create a demand for trained teachers," he said.
