Getting To Know Malaysia Via Uzbekistan's FM Radio

LANGKAWI, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan has bought airtime on a fm radio station to introduce the country to Uzbeks via a 'getting to know' Malaysia programme.

The Malaysian ambassador to Uzbekistan Abdul Aziz Harun said the one month programme starting Sept 29 aired news on education, trade, weather and facilities with focus on the tourism industry.

"We hope that the Uzbek language programme which comes on air twice a week until Oct 30 will promote Malaysia widely to the people of Uzbekistan," he told Bernama.

Abdul Aziz was accompanying several foreign envoys based in Tashkent and their families who were on a visit to Malaysia starting Oct 13.

They had already visited Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Putrajaya.

The visit on the initiative of the Malaysian embassy in Uzbekistan was aimed at promoting tourism.
