Chinese Muslim Mosque In Melaka Next Year
MELAKA, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Government has approved the construction of the first Chinese Muslim mosque in the state.
The RM9 million mosque, to be built on a 2.8 hectare site in Krubong here early next year, will accomodate about 2,000 individuals at a time.
Melaka Tionghua Muslim Association (Pertim) chairman Mohd Mansor Yap Abdullah said the mosque would have an architectural concept adapted from a mosque in China.
Upon completion, he said, the mosque could be used by all Muslims, and not just Chinese Muslims.
Mohd Mansor added that they were still waiting for funds from the federal government.
"The overall development includes a mosque building and a complex which will house facilities such as an art centre, Chinese restaurant and school," he told reporters at the Pertim office here on Monday.
He said the mosque would become a good tourist attraction, especially for Muslims from China.
