261 Fatalities Recorded Throughout Ops Sikap

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Ops Sikap that was launched on Sept 13 and which ended yesterday, saw 261 fatalities recorded throughout the period.

According to a statement from Supt Rasdi Ramli from the Bukit Aman public relations department, there were 23 fatalities yesterday from the 931 accidents reported.

From the total, motorcyclists accounted for 12 of the 23 deaths while car accidents claimed eight while another three were pedestrians.

Municipal roads once again registered the highest number of accidents yesterday with 388 cases followed by Federal roads (284), state roads (152), highways (68) and other roads (39).

Police had also issued 9,826 summonses yesterday.
