S'gor Land C'tee To Meet Orang Asli C'tee

PETALING JAYA, March 1 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Special Land Committee will hold a meeting with the Orang Asli Special Committee on July 1 to discuss speeding up of the process to identify and gazette land belonging to the Orang Asli in the state.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said it was hoped that the discussion would reach a consensus in the near future because the Selangor Special Land Committee had gathered the data on the land.

"I hope we can continue to discuss how the matter can be resolved. I will also meet the district officers so that they will not have to wait long to register their ownership," he said at a dialogue session with the Orang Asli at the Desa Temuan Community Hall, Bukit Lanjan, here today.

Khalid said that under the resolution reached at the dialogue today, all development projects planned on Orang Asli land must get their agreement before implementation.

Meanwhile, Khalid also promised to provide free water facilities to the Orang Asli and proposed that Orang Asli children who had gained entry into the universities be given scholarship.
