New Merck Begins Operations Worldwide
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Global healthcare leader Merck & Co has outlined its global strategy following the completion of its recent merger with Schering-Plough Corporation.
The new Merck, operating as Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) outside the United States and Canada, aims to provide innovative, distinctive products and services to create long-term shareholders value.
It said in a statement released here Friday that the new Merck will operate in more than 140 countries, including Malaysia.
"Malaysia is an integral part of the company's expanded global presence," said MSD Malaysia's managing director Ewe Kheng Huat.
MSD Malaysia, he said, is poised to ensure it can support the company's global direction and remained committed to the needs of the local market.
According to Ewe, the merger presents a great opportunity as it will add value to Merck's passion to improve healthcare.
"The company will offer an outstanding clinical development pipeline that will greatly increase its ability to deliver important new medicines to patients," he said.
"We look forward to continuing to meet and exceed the needs of our customers by providing them with the high-quality products and services they have come to expect," he added.
