FAMA And Gitex Jointly Hosting 'Celik Herba' Campaign
KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) will cooperate with Gitex Sdn Bhd in organising the "Celik Herba - Belilah Produk Kesihatan Tempatan" (Herbal Literate - Buy local Health Products) campaign from April 30 to May 3.
The campaign hosted in conjunction with the Sixth International Herbal Trade Exhibition (Herbal Asia 2009) will be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The four-day campaign is an effort to step up promotions and marketing of locally-produced products especially herbal products and herb-derived products.
Targeting Malaysia as a hub for herbal-based agricultural products in the Asia-Pacfic region, the campaign is seen as an effective approach in providing wider exposure to local herbal products.
At the same time, it also aimed at increasing people's awareness on healthcare and special properties and value of local herbal medicine.
As an important platform to promote herbal- based products, the campaign is expected to attract many herbal enthusiasts from in and outside the country.
The large-scale exposure during the campaign is expected to boost demand for herbal products, hence producing new entrepreneurs of herbal products at district and state levels, thus reducing imports of herb-based healthcare products.
The campaign will be held nationwide to highlight various programmes. Among them are briefings on business opportunities; business match-making at new entrepreneurs level; identifying problems faced by entrepreneurs in rural areas; selection of herbal products for sale; identifying programmes according to groups; and creating business networking among entrepreneurs at district level.
The campaign is also targeted at entrepreneurs of homestay tourism; spa; health centres; traditional treatment; herbal cosmetic producers, producers and sellers of aroma oil; health apparatus; planters and livestock breaders; and suppliers of raw materials for the traditional treatment industry.
