Sun Implements SEP Business Model
KUALA LUMPUR, April 6, (Bernama) -- Sun Microsystems Inc will implement the Sun Equity Partner (SEP) business model to manage its operations in Malaysia.
SEP is a worldwide joint-venture programme designed to expand Sun's presence efficiently and enhance growth in key markets via strategic investments with select partners.
The programme is modelled on a concept that empowers partners to manage a Sun-branded operation while leveraging their know-how and market reach to facilitate customers' access to its offerings.
Sun's executive vice president of global sales and services, Peter Ryan said the implementation of the SEP model in Malaysia is intended to further expand the company's presence, and position it to seize opportunities generated by the country's growing demand for network computing services and solutions.
"Investing with a leading partner allows Sun to quickly expand coverage in growth markets, provide local expertise to our customers and contribute to global business communities.
"The joint-venture will contribute to customers' adoption of Sun Microsystems' portfolio of software and systems solutions, including the Solaris operating systems, Java technologies, open software technologies, among others", he said in a statement Monday.
The SEP program was modeled after the highly successful joint-venture partnerships in Indonesia and the Philippines over the past several years.
Sun Microsystems has been in Malaysia since 1995.
