Weak Earthquake In Kuala Pilah

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- A weak earth quake, measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale, occurred for the fourth time in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, at 2.30pm Monday.

According to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department here today, the epicentre of the quake was at 22km east of Seremban and was the latest to be detected since yesterday.

The first quake occurred at 2.30pm yesterday and today three tremors were felt, the first at 12.15am, followed by the second at 9.10am and third at 2.30pm.

It said the tremors were felt by residents in the affected areas but there was no need for alarm as it was only a weak one.

The weak tremors are the aftershock effects of the massive earthquake which happened in Indonesia recently, said the department.

Meanwhile in SEREMBAN, chairman of the Kuala Pilah Natural Disaster Committee, Ibrahim Hassan, said the committee did not receive any report of an earth quake in the district from either the residents, police or the Fire and Rescue Department.

A resident in Kampung Tanjung Ipoh, Halim Abdullah, 33, said he felt dizzy while watching television at about midnight yesterday, but did not suspect it to be due to an earth quake.
