| Heng: Unaware Of Move To Bring Down Chew Mei Fun |

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Wanita MCA secretary-general Senator Heng Seai Kie said she was unaware of a move to bring down its chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
"I have not heard about this. We will be having a meeting tomorrow on the fresh elections for the party. We will know about it (move against Chew) tomorrow," she told reporters at the parliament lobby Monday.
Heng was commenting on a report in a local Chinese daily today of an alleged conspiracy among some Wanita MCA central committee members to bring down Chew, who is in the camp opposed to party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.
Asked whether there was a need for MCA to also hold fresh elections for posts in the Wanita and Youth wings along with the central working committee, she said: "Whatever the problem, we should try to minimise and not enlarge it."
Heng, who is also Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister, said the party had agreed to give six months for the "greater unity plan" proposed by Ong to be executed before fresh polls are held.
Meanwhile, MCA Youth head Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said he was unaware of a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the restructuring of the party's central working committee as mentioned by Heng.
"I am upset as I have not received any information on this. Either there was miscommunication or wrong information given," he said.
Wee, who is also Deputy Education Minister, said he also received a text message from the MCA headquarters that there would be a meeting on Tuesday to discuss on increasing the number of delegates for the next party elections or to have direct elections.
"This has nothing to do with the proposal to cancel the extraordinary general meeting which is scheduled this Saturday," he said.
Commenting on the need to have fresh elections this year instead of next year, Wee said: "We have not had our annual general meeting for this year and by right we must do it before Dec 31."
