KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister Senator Heng Seai Kie said the Kembara Bernama-Tourism Malaysia 2009 can nurture understanding and solidarity among the multi-racial community in line with the 1Malaysia spirit.
The 1Malaysia spirit, she said, was most crucial in turning the nation into a dynamic, peaceful and prosperous country.
"The 1Malaysia concept will become the continuity for us to continue enjoying peace and a stable national revenue and inculcate solidarity and a strong and united Malaysian race," said heng at the launch of the Kembara Bernama-Tourism Malaysia 2009, here Wednesday.
In this context, Heng wanted Bernama through the Bernama Staff Club (KKB) to widen the treasure hunt to Sabah and Sarawak.
"With the availability of budget flights, I believe 'treasure hunters' from the peninsula also want to travel to the two states to look for a much bigger challenge," Heng said.
About 300 people, including media practitioners and the agency's staff are participating in the hunt from Kuala Lumpur to Senai, Johor on Saturday.
At the launch, Heng received sponsorship cheques from 12 companies including Petronas, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Berjaya Hotels and Resorts, Ammerchant Bank Berhad and Packet One Networks Malaysia Berhad.
This is the second time Johor has been chosen as the destination for the news agency's treasure hunt. The first time was in 1993 to Johor Baharu. The Kembara Bernama was introduced in 1988.
Also present at the launch were KKB President Datuk Yong Soo Heong, who is also Bernama Editor-in-Chief, Bernama TV chief executive officer, Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin and Deputy Director of Communications and Publicity of Tourism Malaysia, Nor Aznan Sulaiman.
