| RM500 Special Payment Also For All Pensioners, Says PSD |

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The government's RM500 special financial payment for civil servants up to Grade 54 and those who went on mandatory retirement is to be extended to all other pensioners as well, the Public Service Department (PSD) announced on Tuesday.
These pensioners include those who went on optional retirement and those receiving derivative pensions, such as widows, widowers and children," the PSD said in a statement.
The special payment also covered pensioners of the armed forces, it added.
"The pensioners eligible to receive the special payment are those who will be receiving their monthly pension in December 2009," the PSD said.
The PSD said payments through the bank would be made on Dec 14, one day before the pension payment for that month.
"For those paid in warrants, a separate warrant will be sent to them in early December to enable them cash it on Dec 14," it added.
In September, the government announced the special payment for 860,000 civil servants in the support group, with the payment to be made in two instalments of RM250 in September and December.
When tabling Budget 2010 in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 23, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the special payment would be extended to civil servants in Grade 41 to Grade 54 as well as those who went on mandatory retirement.
