SINGAPORE, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- After more than 48 hours in the gruelling Singapore hot sun, cold night and rain, and without sleep and much rest, less than 100 out of 400 contenders in a challenge to win a car remain in contention by late evening Monday.
The men and women contenders comprising 320 from Singapore, and the rest from Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Indonesia are taking part in the annual MediaCorp Subaru Impreza WRX Challenge at the Ngee Ann City square at Orchard Road since noon Saturday.
In the competition, contenders must not move their hands placed on the cars for as long as they can and are given only a five-minute break every six hours for food, drinks, massage or run to the portable toilet nearby.
Contestants who moved their hands away from the car will be disqualified, and the last person standing with the hand on the car will be declared the winner.
The winner will take home a Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan 2.5MT worth SGD81,000.
Last year, Singaporean George Lee drove away the Subaru Impreza after 81 hours and 32 minutes.
