| CVLB Seeks Explanation From Bus Company Over Service Disruption |

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (CVLB) is to demand an explanation from Syarikat Kenderaan Melayu Kelantan (SKMK) for the disruption in its Cityliner stage bus service yesterday which left thousands of people stranded in Kota Baharu.
CVLB chairman Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said in a statement here today that SKMK would have to respond within a week, explaining why its buses were kept off the streets between 6.30am and noon.
Some 110 Cityliner bus drivers staged a boycott between those hours, saying it was in response to the management's deduction of RM100 from their salaries for no apparent reason and failure of the management to furnish them with their salary slips since July.
SKMK is the only company operating a stage bus service in Kelantan, with 132 buses running throughout the state.
Halimah said CVLB hoped that the drivers would not repeat the boycott and that any dispute should be resolved through negotiations between the employees and the company management.
"Priority must be given to commuters by ensuring that the company's service is unaffected," she said.
