| UTP To Host World Engineering, Science And Technology Congress 2010 |

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) is organising the World Engineering, Science, and Technology Congress 2010 (ESTCON2010) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from June 15 to 17.
The congress, themed "Towards Sustainability: Bridging Engineering, Technology and Humanities", stresses the bridging of all communities of experts in research and innovation in sustaining knowledge for the betterment of the society, a UTP statement here says.
Twenty parallel sessions and more than 1,400 research papers from around the world will be presented at ESTCON2010, which it is expected to be the biggest world congress ever held in Malaysia.
It will serve as the centre stage for knowledge sharing, intellectual discussions and networking on various areas of interest, for academicians, researchers, scientists, engineers, interest groups and industry experts worldwide, it says.
ESTCON2010 encapsulates seven international conferences organised by various departments within the UTP working either independently or in partnership with other universities or professional institutions.
These conferences are the International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced System (ICIAS2010) organised by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department; the International Symposium on Information Technology (ITSIM'10) organised by the Computer and Information Sciences Department in partnership with other local universities.
International Conference on Plant Equipment and Reliability (ICPER2010) organised by the Mechanical Engineering Department, International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Science (ICFAS2010) organised by the Fundamental and Applied Sciences Department, International Conference on Sustainable Building and Infrastructure (ICSBI'10) organised by the Civil Engineering Department.
International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials (ICPEAM2010) organised by the Chemical Engineering Department in partnership with the Institute of Chemical Engineers Malaysia and the International Enhanced Oil Recovery Conference (INTEORC2010) organised by the Petroleum Engineering Department.
The university envisages ESTCON2010 to further project its image locally and abroad and enhance the quality of its publications in meeting the key performance indicators (KPIs) for research university status.
The UTP is inviting interested parties to participate as sponsors, paper presenters and delegates for ESTCON2010, and sponsorship received will also be used to organise Carbon Offset Initiative activities including the planting of trees to minimise global warming, in the run-up to the congress.
