Sabah Information Department Denies Advertising Positions Apart From Through PSD

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Information Department has denied posting vacant positions in the department in certain channels aside through the Public Service Department (PSD) and has asked for the cooperation of the public to report to the department if they came across advertisements for positions using the name of the department's director.

Director Azizan Din expressed regret over the actions of irresponsible individuals who used the name of the government department to hoodwink people of vacant positions and collecting upfront fees to guarantee getting permanent positions in the department.

"The Sabah Information Department has never advertised for vacant positions on the Internet or any other channel other than the PSD.

"This is a serious matter as it also involves money. This affects the good name of the department which places priority on the people. We don't ask for money as a condition to secure a job," Azizan said at a news conference here on Friday.

According to him, the department knew of the matter yesterday when 13 people came to the department to inquire of an interview to be held yesterday and today.

He said three persons said they had deposited RM500 into an account.

Azizan said advertisements for five clerk positions in the department were posted on the website JobsMalaysia.gov.my with monthly salary of RM1,300.

He said the department will lodge a police report today.
