Pahang Chieftain Wan Ahmad Tajuddin Dies

MARAN, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Datuk Setia Amar Segara Wan Ahmad Tajuddin Wan Hassan, one of the Orang Besar Berlapan (chieftains) of Pahang, collapsed and died when performing the Maghrib prayers at his house in Chenur, here Tuesday evening.

He was 74.

Wan Ahmad Tajuddin was buried Wednesday at the Chenur Muslim cemetery here.

He leaves a wife, Engku Andak Engku Ahmad, 69, and seven sons and four daughters.

The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Tan Aminuddin Ishak and state executive councillors were among those who paid their last respects.

Pahang Islamic Affairs Council Deputy President Datuk Wan Abdul Wahib Wan Hasan said Wan Ahmad Tajuddin collapsed when performing the Maghrib prayers.

"Family members rushed him to the Temerloh Hospital but he was pronounced dead," he told Bernama.

Wan Ahmad Tajuddin was the elected representative of Chenur from 1969 to 1974. He had been a member of the State Council of Regency, Pahang Islamic Affairs Council and the Pahang Malay Custom and Traditions Council.

Tan Aminuddin, who is the state-assemblyman for Chenur, said Wan Ahmad Tajuddin had brought much change for the better as an elected representative of the constituency.
