One Killed, 22 Injured When Bus Overturns In Slim River


SLIM RIVER, June 11 (Bernama) -- An express bus which had 32 traffic summonses, skidded, crashed into a road divider and fell on its side, killing a passenger and injuring 22 others and the driver.

The accident occurred at the 383.9km North-South Expressway here Wednesday.

Mohamad Ziahulhaq Muhaidin, 26, died on the spot after sustaining head injuries in the incident about 4pm.

The body of the victim, from Rumah Panjang Wira Damai, Batu Caves, Selangor was sent to the Slim River Hospital for post-mortem.

The injured who sustained head and body injuries were sent to the hospital for out-patient treatment.

Aged between 18 and 50, they comprised 16 men and six women.

Slim River police chief, Supt Mohd Ali Mat Nayan said the crash occurred when the driver of the Super Nice Express bus from Butterworth to Kuala Lumpur lost control and crashed into the road divider.

He said the express bus had 32 traffic summonses.

A Fire & Rescue team rescued those passengers who were trapped in the wrecked vehicle.
