BERLIN, June 18 (Bernama) -- Two trading houses from Malaysia and Indonesia have placed a huge software order with a major software company in Germany.
Wincor Nixdorf, headquartered in Paderborn, Germany, has been supplying software platforms both for Microsoft and Linux range of products in Asia.
One of Indonesia's leading trading companies Matahari Putra Prima has ordered 1,500 licences of the TP.Linux software.
The other major order comes from Mydin Mohamed Holdings, a leading trading house in Malaysia, which has decided in favour of using Microsoft-based software package TP.net and placed an order for a total of 460 licences.
The first hypermarket with 60 cash systems equipped with TP.net will be opened next month.
Matahari is one of the most rapidly expanding and innovative trading houses in Indonesia, with a turnover growth of over 20 per cent last year.
Currently, Matahari operates 81 stores, 34 supermarkets, 16 hypermarkets and 109 specialised retail stores.
For this heterogeneous structure of its store branches, Matahari sought a software package that would not only support the IT structure in the existing stores but also help in implementing innovative concepts in the new branches.
TPLinux was in a position to meet these complex demands. The software installation will take place immediately after the introduction of a new product range system.
Matahari had installed only a few months back more than 1,500 new Beetle iPOS cash systems in its stores supplied by Wincor Nixdorf.
Mydin, which will be operating the first 60 cash systems with the software TP.net next month, is Malaysia's leading wholesale trading organisation, with 17 branches and 460 cash systems.
With a constantly active pricing policy encompassing a range of more than 170,000 products, the company has high demands and relies on flexibility in solutions.
TP.net will be integrated with Mydin's product package solution Microsoft Business Solutions Axapta for application.
The software installation is expected to be completed in the other branches probably by end of this year.
The Paderborn-based supplier did not reveal the value of the two orders placed by Matahari and Mydin.
