Umno Delegates Told To Maintain Decorum During Debate

Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

MUAR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin Sunday advised delegates to the Umno general assembly beginning Wednesday to maintain decorum when debating any motion.

The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister said they must realise that what was more important was to demonstrate the spirit of unity and solidarity in the party as was shown by the delegates in the past.

Muhyiddin, who is responsible for preparing the drafts of resolutions for debate at the assembly, anticipated that apart from the policy speech by party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the delegates would also focus on education and the economy.

He hoped the delegates could appreciate fully the policy speech and debates on the resolutions to have a better understanding of the party and government policies.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Pagoh Umno division head, said this at the Maulidur Rasul gathering organised by the Pagoh Wanita Umno at the Masjid Jamek Kampung Parit Raja, Gersik here Sunday.

"This is important as it would enable them to assist the government in tackling current problems such as the issue on meritocracy, inflation caused by the rising oil price and so on," he said.
