PRS Will Remain One In Totality - Sec Gen

PAKAN, Oct 5 (Bernama) --The Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) willremain one in totality and any attempt to form any cliques or groups should be nipped in the bud.

Its secretary-general Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said, any cliques even at grassrootsup to the top leaders' level would weaken and disunite the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party to render itunsuccessful.

"We must learn from successful political party like the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) which has always remained crisis-free.

"Their members are well disciplined and will abide to any decisions made by the president. This is because they know that the president made the decision not for himself but in the overall interest of the party," he said when officiating the PRS Pakan Division annual general meeting here yesterday.

He saidPBB members knew that before making any decision, the president would consult other party leaders, members and those concerned.

According to him, it was the same in PRS whereby the party president Tan Sri Dr James Masing would listen to the advice and feedbacks given by leaders, members and people on the ground.

On the coming Parliamentary election, Salang who is Pakan PRS chairman and Julau Member of Parliament, saidPRS would give Masing afree hand in deciding on PRS candidates or re-nominating incumbents.

"Let us not fuss over the matter especially in the social media. Only those who are not with the party will be fussing and create confusion to suit their own agenda," he said.

On his own position, SalangsaidMasing had announced his re-nomination twice after consulting local party leaders, members and the voters.

"Although it has been decided by PRS that I should defend the seat again, this is not confirmed until the nomination day itself.

"I have no problem with those who claim they are going to replace me. But if there is one thing that they should know is that they should not burn the bridge before crossing the river as theywould need the bridge to cross over safely," he added.
