Kedah Muafakat Expo Best Platform To See State Government's Development Efforts
ALOR SETAR, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Kedah Muafakat Expo, which will be held from Feb 24 to March 3, will serve as the best platform for the people of Kedah to see what the government has done in achieving progress and development in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the people could look at the state government's efforts in developing Kedah, as well as ongoing and future projects.
"Much fake news have been spread on social media, so this expo gives a chance to the people of Kedah, as well as others to come and see what the government has done.
"Through the expo, the people of Kedah, especially the youths, can give their views and ideas on what they want for the state in the future. This way, they can help make Kedah a state to be proud of," he told reporters after the pre-launch event here today.
The expo, which will be held at the Darul Aman Stadium, is expected to be officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Feb 24, while Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to close the event on March 3.
Ahmad Bashah said the inaugural expo would involve 199 agencies and departments, and comprise 15 major events, 119 side events and 20 clusters, including the Royal Exhibition Cluster, Financial Cluster and Young Generation Cluster.
He said a lucky draw would also be held, with lucky visitors set to win prizes such as cars, motorcycles, electrical appliances, hotel accommodation packages, tour packages as well as other 'unique' items.
Earlier, Ahmad Bashah, who is also Sultan Abdul Halim Mua'dzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS) Board of Directors chairman, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Kedah Zakat Board (LZNK) and UniSHAMS for full education scholarships by LZNK.
LZNK was represented by its chief executive officer, Syeikh Zakaria Othman while UniSHAMS was represented by its rector, Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Fakhrudin Abdul Mukti.
Through the MoU, 100 poor children with outstanding academic results will have the opportunity to get full tuition scholarships in eight programmes offered by UniSHAMS.
