IPOH, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- A police constable on motorcycle was killed after he crashed into the right side of a stationary lorry in the emergency lane of the North-South Expressway near hear early today.

Ipoh police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby in a statement today said due to the impact of the collision, the 25-year-old policeman, who was attached to the Ipoh Federal Reserve Unit, was thrown onto the road and was hit by a trailing vehicle.

The victim died on the spot, he said.

"The incident was believed to have occurred when the victim's Honda C100 motorcycle crashed into the right side of the lorry parked in the emergency lane before he was thrown onto the road and hit by an unidentified vehicle," Mohd Ali said, without revealing the name of the victim.

He said the body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
